About Me

ethereal ethe·re·al
extremely delicate and light in a way that seems not to be of this world.

Hey! My name is Ashley, and I’m a media specialist who is constantly captivated by the world. I have a particular enthusiasm for social issues surrounding subcultures, marginal voices and social justice, alongside a love for fashion, film, art, books, gaming and music. I find that this ties in well with my degree as I have just completed a bachelor’s from Nottingham Trent University studying a joint honours degree in English, Television and Film. I came up with the concept of this blog while I was interning at Ideas On Paper as I was surrounded by books, journals and all kinds of beautifully printed works.

I’m continuously looking for inspiration while interminably badgering between creativity and social advocacy, which I proclaim as the core theme across subculture, visual art, representation and literature. My goal with this blog is to write about things that interest and inspires me creatively and generate change, raise awareness and critically reflect on my own experience with major issues. I’m an avid believer in the power of emerging technology, youth, and using art forms as a gateway to change society.

My personal inspirations range from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Valentine Nkoyo, Salma Haidrani, Tarana Burke, Nesrine Malik to Dolores Huerta, Reni Eddo-Lodge, Laura Bates and of course, Rihanna; alongside so many other amazing women activists. I’m hoping for this blog to become a factory of original concepts and cultural ideas for people to immerse themselves into.

This entire site is basically just about what I love and what inspires me while also being a blend between a blog for content and a personal portfolio. I want this to be a platform where I can share my projects, written pieces, and other works. I strongly believe that ambition and versatility are vital for creative and professional development, so I am constantly looking to expand my skill set through an array of diverse experiences and opportunities.

Anyways, that’s a bit about me and this site. Other than that, I’m a 5’3, mixed-race girl from Wales that cries at terrible sitcoms. I’m also kind of in love with Lorde, and my favourite colour is every colour. I hope you enjoy exploring this blog as much as I have enjoyed making it!

Lots of love,
